Cross from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Raja Ampat, the heart of the Coral Triangle and arguably the most biodiverse reef system on the planet. Candidates rehearse teaching presentations in the calm shallows around Mansuar Island, then sharpen open-water teaching on current-swept marquee sites such as Cape Kri and Sardine Reef, finishing ready to sit the Instructor Examination and certify divers of their own.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable Open Water Scuba Instructor rating, professional insurance access and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching practice mixes the sheltered lagoons and reefs near Mansuar Island with classic Dampier Strait sites such as Cape Kri and Sardine Reef, where 27-30°C water and strong tidal currents in the October-to-April peak season create an authentic environment to train and assess teaching skills.
