Cross the line from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Port Blair, the gateway to the Andamans. The calm, warm waters around Chidiyatapu and the wider Andaman Sea give instructor candidates a forgiving, high-visibility classroom in which to rehearse teaching presentations and master PADI standards before sitting the independent Instructor Examination. You finish the IDC ready to certify divers of your own and step into the worldwide PADI professional community.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is run independently by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the global PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use the calm, sheltered reefs near Chidiyatapu and around Port Blair, where the placid Andaman Sea, warm 27-29C water and strong visibility through the December-to-April season create a low-stress environment to rehearse confined- and open-water teaching. The Instructor Examination itself is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
