Make the move from guiding divers to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course on Koh Lanta, the Andaman-coast hub for Thailand's most dramatic big-fish diving. The sheltered lagoon and caverns of Koh Haa give instructor candidates a calm, forgiving classroom to rehearse teaching presentations, while the deep pinnacles of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang sharpen the dive leadership you'll model for students. You finish the IDC ready to sit the Instructor Examination and certify divers of your own.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable Open Water Scuba Instructor rating, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use the calm Koh Haa lagoon and the shallower coral walls of Koh Bida, while dive-leadership practice ranges out to the deep pinnacles of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. The Andaman season runs roughly November to April, with warm 27-30°C water and the settled conditions that make Koh Lanta an ideal base for instructor training.
