Cross the line from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course on Kadmat Island. The long, glass-calm lagoon that runs the length of this Lakshadweep coral atoll gives instructor candidates a controlled, forgiving classroom to rehearse teaching presentations, while the reef slopes facing the Arabian Sea provide open-water practice in 24-metre visibility. You finish the IDC ready to sit the Instructor Examination and certify divers of your own.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor rating, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use the sheltered lagoon that lines Kadmat, where calm, shallow water makes an ideal low-stress space to rehearse confined-water teaching, while open-water presentations run on the atoll's reef slopes in 24-metre visibility. The October-to-May season offers the most settled Arabian Sea conditions.
