Make the leap from guiding to teaching with the PADI Instructor Development Course based out of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. You rehearse classroom, confined-water and open-water teaching presentations in the same Galapagos waters where you'll later certify students, before sitting the independent PADI Instructor Examination. You finish ready to issue PADI certifications anywhere in the world.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which a PADI Examiner conducts independently. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable Open Water Scuba Instructor rating and access to the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops are based at Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz, using forgiving sites like North Seymour, Mosquera and Santa Fe for skill circuits and stronger sites such as Gordon Rocks to rehearse current briefings. The cool, current-driven waters here (16-26C) are excellent training grounds, with the peak June-to-November upwelling bringing the biggest schooling action.
