Cross from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Djibouti, on the Gulf of Tadjoura where the Red Sea meets the Indian Ocean. The region's calm, reef-fringed bays and famously uncrowded sites give instructor candidates an unhurried, controlled setting to rehearse teaching presentations and master PADI standards before sitting the Instructor Examination. You finish ready to certify divers of your own and join the worldwide community of PADI professionals.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards and prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the global PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use the sheltered reef bays of the Gulf of Tadjoura, where calm-to-moderate conditions and 24-30°C water during the October-to-February peak make a low-stress environment to practise confined- and open-water teaching. The independent Instructor Examination is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
