Course overview

Extend your bottom time on the Seychelles' deeper granite walls with the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver specialty. This is the most popular specialty in diving, and on Mahe it lets you stay longer on rewarding sites like the Shark Bank pinnacles and outer reefs while diving with greater safety margins. The course is largely theory and can be completed without any dives, leaving you certified to dive with enriched air up to 40 percent oxygen.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the benefits and limits of enriched air diving
• Analyse a tank's oxygen content and label it correctly
• Set your dive computer for the appropriate nitrox mix
• Calculate maximum operating depth and oxygen exposure
• Plan extended no-decompression times using nitrox
• Apply oxygen-management safety procedures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• No additional dives required to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Nitrox theory & analysis

   Complete the knowledge development, practise analysing and marking tanks, set a dive computer for nitrox and certify, with optional dives available.
