Course overview

Extend your no-decompression bottom time with the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) specialty in Mauritius. Largely a knowledge-based course, it teaches you to analyse and dive with enriched-air blends so you can spend longer on the reefs around Flic-en-Flac, particularly during repetitive dive days exploring Cathedral, Aquarium and the island's deeper sites. You finish certified to dive nitrox to 40 percent oxygen.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the benefits and limits of enriched air
• Analyse a cylinder's oxygen content with an analyser
• Set maximum operating depth and oxygen exposure limits
• Plan nitrox dives using tables or a nitrox-capable computer
• Manage oxygen-exposure and partial-pressure considerations
• Properly label and log enriched-air cylinders

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or qualifying certification
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Theory and cylinder analysis

   Enriched-air principles, oxygen analysis and dive planning, with optional nitrox dives on a west-coast reef, then certify.
