Course overview

Build the life-saving foundation behind every rescue and professional rating with the Emergency First Response course in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. This non-diving programme teaches primary and secondary care, CPR and first aid to internationally recognised standards, essential preparation for dive leadership in remote Galapagos waters where help can be far away. It satisfies the first-aid prerequisite for PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster.

What you’ll learn

• Perform CPR and primary care for a non-responsive patient
• Provide secondary care first aid for injuries and illness
• Manage scene safety and conduct a patient assessment
• Use a barrier device and react to serious bleeding and shock
• Recognise and respond to dive-relevant emergencies

Prerequisites

• No prior experience or certification required
• No swimming or diving ability needed
• Open to all ages (course content suits adults and juniors)
