Course overview

Build the confidence to act in an emergency with the PADI Emergency First Response course in Cairns, a one-day land-based first-aid programme that needs no diving experience. You learn CPR and first-aid skills that satisfy the prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster ratings while you prepare for further reef training. It is open to divers and non-divers alike.

What you’ll learn

• Perform adult CPR and one-rescuer scene management
• Provide primary care for non-breathing, unresponsive casualties
• Deliver secondary care for injuries and illness that are not life-threatening
• Control serious bleeding and manage shock and spinal-injury risk
• Use barriers to reduce disease transmission and gain an AED orientation

Prerequisites

• No diving experience or swimming ability required
• No minimum age for participation, though certification suits teens and adults
• Suitable for divers and non-divers
• No medical form required for this land-based course

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Primary and secondary care

   Complete CPR and first-aid theory, practise life-support and injury-management skills with manikins, and run an emergency scenario to earn certification in a single day.
