Course overview

Learn to fly along with the current on the Florida Keys reefs with the PADI Drift Diver specialty in Key Largo. You develop the techniques for safe, relaxed drift dives, including buoyancy control, current awareness and the use of floats and signalling reels. You finish able to enjoy the effortless, gliding drift dives that make Key Largo's outer reefs so exhilarating.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe drift dives
• Maintain buoyancy and trim while drifting
• Stay oriented and aware of current direction
• Use floats, lines and reels for surface marking
• Communicate and stay with your buddy in current
• Deploy a surface marker buoy

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level certification)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
