Course overview

Step into your first professional rating as a PADI Divemaster in North Malé Atoll, working alongside instructors across the atoll's house reefs, channels and drift sites. This internship develops your dive-leadership, supervision and mapping skills over an extended programme, finishing qualified to guide certified divers and assist on courses worldwide.

What you’ll learn

• Lead and supervise certified divers in open water
• Demonstrate all core skills to demonstration quality
• Assist an instructor on courses and lead skill circuits
• Conduct dive briefings, mapping and risk assessment for local sites
• Manage logistics, gas and group safety on channel and drift dives
• Build the stamina and judgement of a dive professional

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver (or equivalents)
• Current EFR / CPR and first aid certification (within 24 months)
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & theory

   Begin divemaster knowledge development and watermanship assessments at the dive base.
2. Day2
   Skills & stamina

   Complete the 24-skill demonstration circuit and swim, tow and stamina evaluations.
3. Day3
   Mapping & briefings

   Map a local channel or reef site and practise briefing certified divers.
4. Day4
   Course internship

   Assist instructors on real Open Water and continuing-education courses across the atoll.
5. Day5
   Leadership practicals

   Lead certified divers, manage groups in current and complete rescue assessment.
6. Day6
   Final assessment

   Finish exams and practical evaluations, then certify as a dive professional.
