Course overview

Become a PADI Divemaster, the first rung of professional diving, on the reef-rich west coast of Mauritius. Based in Flic-en-Flac, you build stamina and dive-leadership skills across classic sites like Cathedral, Aquarium and Snake Reef while learning to map dive sites, guide certified divers and assist instructors with students. You finish ready to work as a certified dive professional anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Supervise and guide certified divers in open water
• Demonstrate the 24 scuba skills to professional standard
• Lead dive briefings, mapping and site management at west-coast reefs
• Assist instructors with student divers in confined and open water
• Complete dive-theory exams and stamina and rescue assessments
• Apply risk management and emergency procedures as a dive leader

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Knowledge development

   Dive theory, the role of the divemaster and exam preparation.
2. Day2
   Watermanship and skills

   Stamina assessments and demonstration-quality skill practice in the lagoon.
3. Day3
   Mapping and guiding

   Map and lead a guided dive at a local reef such as Aquarium or Snake Reef.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Deep, search-and-recovery and emergency-management scenarios in open water.
5. Day5
   Internship

   Assist an instructor with real students in confined and open water.
6. Day6
   Assessment and certification

   Final exams, debrief and PADI Divemaster certification.
