Course overview

Become a PADI Divemaster in Djibouti and earn your first professional rating on the Gulf of Tadjoura, where the Red Sea meets the Indian Ocean. Working alongside instructors at quiet, reef-rich sites, you build the stamina, dive-theory knowledge and leadership skills to guide certified divers and assist on courses. The Divemaster certification is your gateway to a career in diving.

What you’ll learn

• Guide certified divers safely on local reef and current sites
• Master dive theory: physics, physiology, equipment, decompression and the RDP
• Demonstrate the 24 dive skills to demonstration quality
• Assist instructors with students in confined and open water
• Conduct dive briefings, mapping and emergency-management planning
• Complete stamina and rescue-assessment exercises

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another agency)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within the last 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and water skills

   Begin dive-theory study and complete the stamina and watermanship assessments.
2. Day2
   Skill demonstration

   Refine the 24 core skills to demonstration quality and run the rescue-assessment exercise.
3. Day3
   Assisting and mapping

   Shadow instructors with students and complete a dive-site mapping project on a local reef.
4. Day4
   Leading certified divers

   Plan, brief and guide certified divers on Gulf of Tadjoura reef sites under supervision.
5. Day5
   Emergency planning and exams

   Build an emergency-management plan, sit the dive-theory exams and finalise your logbook.
