Course overview

Never dived before? The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience lets you try scuba in North Malé Atoll under the direct supervision of an instructor, just a short transfer from Malé. After a quick briefing in calm, shallow water you experience your first breaths underwater on a gentle reef to a maximum of 12 metres, with reef fish and maybe a passing turtle.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater on scuba for the first time
• Clear water from your mask and recover your regulator
• Equalise and descend gently with your instructor
• Move and stay comfortable underwater
• Use basic hand signals to communicate

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Comfortable putting your face in the water
• Completion of a brief medical questionnaire; physician sign-off if any condition applies

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Welcome & safety briefing

   Meet your instructor at the dive base, cover essential safety information and try the equipment on land.
2. Day2
   Briefing & first breaths

   Learn a few basics, then practise breathing and simple skills in shallow water.
3. Day3
   Guided reef dive

   Explore a gentle North Malé Atoll house reef to a maximum of 12 metres with your instructor at your side.
