Course overview

Try scuba for the first time with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience in Hikkaduwa, on Sri Lanka's gentle south coast. Under direct instructor supervision you learn a few basic skills in shallow water before exploring the calm house reef, where turtles, octopuses, seahorses and colourful reef fish are common sights. No certification or experience is needed, making it the perfect introduction to diving.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe comfortably underwater using scuba equipment
• Equalise and clear your mask
• Recover and clear your regulator
• Move and control yourself underwater with basic buoyancy
• Follow safety guidelines and communicate with hand signals
• Explore a shallow reef under direct instructor supervision

Prerequisites

• No experience or swimming certification required
• Minimum age 10
• Reasonable health and comfort in water
• Brief medical questionnaire on the day

1. Day1
   Discover Scuba session

   A short briefing and skill practice in shallow water, followed by a guided dive on Hikkaduwa's calm house reef to experience the coral and marine life first-hand.
