Course overview

PADI Discover Scuba Diving is the perfect first breath underwater in the warm, clear lagoons of Baa Atoll in the Maldives. Under the direct supervision of a PADI professional, beginners learn a few basic skills and then explore a shallow house reef near Dharavandhoo, often meeting turtles and colourful reef fish. It is an experience programme, not a certification, but it can credit toward the Open Water course.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe comfortably underwater on scuba for the first time
• Use the basic scuba equipment - mask, fins, regulator and BCD
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Equalise and manage simple buoyancy
• Explore a shallow reef safely with an instructor

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Reasonable health - a short medical questionnaire applies
• Comfortable in the water

   Briefing, skills & reef dive

   Meet your instructor for a safety briefing, practise a few basics in shallow water, then explore a house reef near Dharavandhoo to a maximum of 12 metres.
