The PADI Deep Diver specialty at Sipadan extends your limit to 40 metres so you can explore the dramatic walls that plunge into the blue off Sipadan Island. You learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to recognise narcosis while descending past schooling barracuda, reef sharks and turtles along the famous drop-offs. It is the ideal specialty for divers drawn to this region's deep-water reefs and pelagic action.
PADI Deep Diver involves four dives to a maximum of 40 metres, the recreational depth limit, and counts as a specialty toward Master Scuba Diver. Enriched-air and deeper technical diving require separate training.
Deep dives use the steep walls and drop-offs around Sipadan Island, which fall well past 40 metres into the blue and offer reliably good visibility during the April-to-October season; access can depend on the daily Sipadan permit system.
