Course overview

The PADI Deep Diver specialty at Sipadan extends your limit to 40 metres so you can explore the dramatic walls that plunge into the blue off Sipadan Island. You learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to recognise narcosis while descending past schooling barracuda, reef sharks and turtles along the famous drop-offs. It is the ideal specialty for divers drawn to this region's deep-water reefs and pelagic action.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Manage air consumption and turn-pressure at depth
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Use dive computers and tables for deep no-decompression limits
• Set up and use a safety-stop and contingency plan
• Handle colour loss, cooler water and longer ascents

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or higher (Advanced Open Water recommended)
• Comfortable buoyancy and air-consumption control
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and first deep dives

   Deep-dive planning and narcosis theory, then two dives building depth along a Sipadan-area wall.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres and certification

   Two further dives progressing to 40 metres with task and gas-management exercises, then certification.
