Course overview

This entry-level guided scuba programme introduces beginners to diving in the warm, shallow lagoons of Baa Atoll in the Maldives, sitting between a single try-dive and the full Open Water course. Under a PADI professional, you learn core skills and complete guided dives on the house reefs near Dharavandhoo, with progress creditable toward PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble and use basic scuba equipment
• Breathe and equalise comfortably underwater
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Manage simple buoyancy and controlled ascents
• Explore a shallow reef under close supervision

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No prior experience or swimming certification required
• Comfortable in the water
• Reasonable health - a short medical questionnaire applies

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Skills & first dive

   Learn the fundamentals in shallow water, then complete a guided reef dive near Dharavandhoo to a maximum of 12 metres.
2. Day2
   Guided reef diving

   Add a further guided dive to build confidence, with progress credited toward the Open Water course if you continue.
