Course overview

The PADI Adaptive Support Diver course in Muscat prepares certified divers to act as effective dive buddies and supporters for divers with physical or mental challenges. Through theory and practical sessions on Oman's calm reefs at Bandar Khayran, you learn to adapt techniques so that diving stays safe and inclusive for all. You finish with the PADI Adaptive Support Diver certification.

What you’ll learn

• Understand how disabilities can affect a diver and their training
• Adapt buddy and support techniques to individual needs
• Plan and conduct dives that are safe and inclusive
• Assist with equipment, entries and exits for divers needing support
• Communicate effectively with a diver who has additional needs
• Apply a considerate, student-centred approach in the water

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher certification
• Comfortable assisting another diver in the water
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Theory & techniques

   Cover adaptive-diving principles and practise support techniques in confined water at a Muscat site.
2. Day2
   Open-water support & certification

   Apply adaptive buddy-support skills on a reef dive at Bandar Khayran, then certify.
