"Booked it on impulse, glad I did. The pace was right, the dives were memorable, and the cert is internationally recognised — I've used it on three trips since."

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Open Water?
Scuba Diver is a 12m supervised cert (you must dive with a Pro). Open Water is 18m and lets you dive independently with any buddy. Scuba Diver is faster + cheaper if your time is limited.
Can I upgrade to full Open Water later?
Yes — 2 additional ocean dives + the 18m skills sign-off. Costs about ₹6,000 extra when you upgrade. Most students who Scuba Diver first end up upgrading.
Prerequisite?
None beyond age 10+ and a basic comfort in water (swim 100m, float for 5 min).
Where is this dived?
With FlyingFish in Goa or any SSI centre worldwide. Cert is identical.
Why not just do Open Water?
Some travellers only have 2 days. Some kids/parents prefer a smaller commitment. Some divers know they'll only dive on holiday — 12m is enough. All valid reasons.
Is the Scuba Diver cert recognised everywhere?
Yes — at every SSI-affiliated dive centre worldwide. You dive supervised by a Pro (instructor or Divemaster), but you'll always have access.
